It's getting dark; lights are just going on in all the houses along the street. A shadow makes its way along the outside wall of a large town house. There are heavy velvet curtains at the drawing room window. Inside a log fire is burning. Slowly the back door to the house is pulled open, and the dark figure of a woman slips into the house from the garden. A minute later she appears in the drawing room. She can be seen opening drawers and cupboards. She is looking through a lot of papers and documents. Suddenly she hears a noise outside the door. The woman hides behind a curtain. The door opens, and, in a beam of light from the hallway, we see a man coming into the room. Wes hear the sound of voices and laughter from the next room. The woman is still hiding behind the curtain, but we can now see that she is holding a revoler.
