13. 句子的种类

（一）按使用目的可分为陈述句、疑问句、祈使句和感叹句。
1） 陈述句（Declarative Sentences）：说明一个事实或陈述一种看法。
Light travels faster than sound. 光比声速度快。 （说明事实）
The film is rather boring. 这部电影很乏味。
（说明看法）

2） 疑问句（Interrogative Sentences）：提出问题。有以下四种：
a. 一般疑问句（General Questions）：
Can you finish the work in time?
你能按时完成工作吗？
b. 特殊疑问句（W Questions; H Questions）：
Where do you live? 你住那儿？
How do you know that? 你怎么知道那件事？
c. 选择疑问句（Alternative Questions）：
Do you want tea or coffee?
你是要茶还是要咖啡？
d. 反意疑问句（Tag-Questions）：
He doesn’t know her, does he?
他不认识她，对不对？

3） 祈使句（Imperative Sentences）：提出请求，建议或发出命令，例如：
Sit down, please. 请坐。
Don’t be nervous! 别紧张！

4） 感叹句（Exclamatory Sentences）：表示说话人惊奇、喜悦、愤怒等情绪，例如：
What good news it is! 多好的消息啊！

提出两种或两种以上的情况，要求对方选择一种情况回答，这种问句叫做选择疑问句，选择疑问句的两种或两种以上的情况用or连接，回答时不能用yes或no，语调一般是第一种选择用升调，最后一种选择用降调。选择疑问句可以分为一般选择疑问句和特殊选择疑问句两种。

1 一般选择疑问句

句型：一般疑问句+or+被选择的情况？

Are you a teacher or a student？

你是个老师还是个学生？

I'm a student.

我是个学生。

Did you work out the maths problem in this way or（in）that way？

你用这种方法还是用那种方法把这道数学题算出来的？

I did it in that way.

我用那种方法算出来的。

2 特殊选择疑问句

句型：特殊疑问句，A or B？

Which is bigger, Beijing or New York？

哪个城市大些，北京还是纽约？

Beijing is.北京。

When will he leave for London，today or tomorrow？

他何时动身去伦敦，今天还是明天？

Tomorrow.明天。

注意

or之后如果是单数可数名词，必须要加上冠词。

选择疑问句:四种类型疑问句中的一种，用or连接,or可以连接各种成分
如：Who will go, he or she?
What will you do this weekend, go shopping or go fishing?
When will we meet, this afternoon or this weekend?
Where shall we meet, at the gate or at the store?

(2)一般提出两种或两种以上的可能,问对方选择哪一种.其结构可用一般疑问句,也可用特殊疑问句.供选择的两部分用or连接,前者读升调,后者读降调.
e.g. Will you go there by bus or by train?
What would you like, coffee or tea?
How many pens do you have, one or two?
选择疑问句的答语必须是完整的句子或其省略式,不能答yes或no.
e.g. Do you go to school by bus or by bike?
By bus.
Which would you like, tea or coffee? Coffee.

一般疑问句演化来的选择疑问句
e.g. Is it right or wrong?
Were you or he there?
Are they reading, chatting or watching TV?
特殊疑问句演化来的选择疑问句
e.g. Which do you like better, coffee or milk?
What color is it, red, blue or yellow?
Where are you going, to the classroom or to the library?
or not构成的选择疑问句
e.g. Do you want to buy it or not?
Are you ready or not
