means通常指的是手段、方法（用为贬义较多）
eg.
It is all a means to an end.
这只是达到目的的一种手段

medium通常是指的是通过什么媒介来达到什么效果
eg.
English is not the usual medium of instruction in our school.
英语不是我校通常使用的教学语言。

method是个较为中性一点的词
eg.
方法,办法[C][(+of/for)]
A new training method was introduced.
引进了一种新的训练方法。

measure通常说的是政府采取的较大规模的措施等
eg.
措施;手段;方法[P1]
The government was urged to take measures to combat the spread of AIDS.
人们敦促政府采取措施以防止爱滋病的传播。

influence是较为常用的做影响来讲的词
