有谁知道这个问题怎么答? I_______<hope>to call on you yesterday, but I was too busy.
I hope to call on you yesterday,but I was too busy.
因为后句有了WAS，前面应该用虚拟语气－－I (HAVE) HOPE TO CALL ON YOU YESTERDAY,BUT I WAS TOO BUSY.
这种情况是 ：现实与所期望的相反的虚拟语气
所以应该用have hoped！
I'd prefer the answer:
I had hoped to call on you yesterday, but I was too busy.
I had hoped...is used to talk about hopes that were not realised---hopes for things that did not happen.
For example:
I had hoped that Jenny would become a doctor, but she wasn't good enough at science.
