Smoking kills
Twenty percent of deaths among local men aged 45 to 64 are caused by smoking, according to a recent survey by the Shanghai Tumor Research Institute. The survey of 18,000 local male residents also blamed smoking for 40 percent of cancer cases. More 74 percent of lung cancer cases are due to smoking, which also invites stomach cancer, liver cancer and other tumors, the survey suggests.
