low profit doesn't means that you must charge lower price, it means that you should set your marginal profit equals marginal cost in order to maximize your total profit. However, in the perfect competitive market, your price usually is given to you as a standard price from the market. Then, you should minimize your average variable costs first, and then enlarging your total sales, then your profit will build up. Moreover, about the services, I think it's the mathod to hold your consumers' loyalty to your firm. The better service doesn't increase the profit directly, but it can bring the future opportunities to your sales. ^_^
