1.Sudan is a bubbling hotchpotch of sharply different regions, tribes and religions that have been clashing violently virtually since the day when British colonial administration left in 1956.

2.Various governments at the center, in Khartoum, have tried with scant success to control the periphery.
3.Some 2m people have died in the civil war between north and south that has raged, more off than on for the last three decades.

4.The government in Khartoum, run since 1989 by an Islamist party that once hosted Osama bin Laden but has since dampened its jihadist sympathies….
5.No on, in Africa or further afield, except perhaps for the likes(这个LIKE 做何解) of Al-Qaeda wants the country to fall apart into warring fiefs.

6.Just as worryingly, this mayhem in the west could prompt the delicate peace agreement with the south to unravel too.
7.While America has sought to isolate and cajole the regime in Khartoum, Russia and China have been rewarded with handsome oil concessions.

8.But the CIA has been cosying up to Sudan in the name of the war on terror.

9.More of a fuss should be made about the behavior.

13.That these two different models meet peacefully at the 49th parallel(parallel做何解) and to strive to outdo each other can be good for both of them.

14.On Nov 28th,after 17 uninspiring months, the liberal minority government of Paul Martine, the Prime Minister, expired, losing a confidence vote in House of Commons.
15.For all the Canada’s abiding strengths, more of the same politics may not be good enough.

10.Enormous though it is, Canada is all too easily overlooked.(这是什么结构)

11.Since it is a peaceful, prosperous-dare one say provincial?-sort of place, it rarely makes much of a splash in the world.(这句话怎么翻译)

12.The second reason to watch Canada, as the Economist argued before, is that it is a healthy rival to the American way.(WAY做何解)

16.Temporarily free from the veto of the old-school socialists of the NDP (New Democratic Party) last month the government announced tax cuts and new training scheme.

Dear buddy, would you please tell me whether you are going to taking part in National Master Entrance Test or not?
