该怎样正确的使用while和when，以及它俩之间的联系和区别，怎样互相转换，还有延续性动词与结束性动词是什么意思？

while引导时间状语从句，一般强调从句的动作正在发生，或主句从句的动词同时进行。如：I was doing my homework while my mother was cooking.
延续性动词是指动词可以延续一段时间的词，如live,study,have, keep等。结束性动词也叫终止性动词或瞬间动词，指动词不能持续一段时间。如：buy,die,borrow,lend.
e.g.I bought a new pen last week.
I have had the pen for a week.
He borrowed the book two weeks ago.
He has kept the book for two weeks.
延续性动词是指动词可以延续一段时间的词，如live,study,have, keep等。结束性动词也叫终止性动词或瞬间动词，指动词不能持续一段时间。如：buy,die,borrow,lend.
除了以上的用法外还要注意：
1.while 和表示时间段连用，动词用延续性动词。
when 可以是时间点也可以是时间段。
Please take care of my dog while/when I am out.
I was watching TV when my father came back.
2.while 可表示对比，译为：然而。特别是前后两个句子都用过去进行时时，此时不用when
I was working in the garden while she was watching TV in the room.
