For example, white trunks of decayed tree, black and lurid tarn, vacant, eyelike windows, they are all contributed to the description of an atmosphere of despair and death. And from the opening description of the dark rooms of the house to the storm that accompanies Madeline's return from the tomb, helps to convey the gloom, dreariness and terror. We can even perceive a sense of death of Roderick Usher’s appearance and character.
