spend...on pay...for
cost的主语是物

三者都表示花费,但关键是主语不一样.
1、spend...on
I spent ten yuan on that English magazine.
2、pay...for
I paied ten yuan for that English magazine.
3、cost(cost-cost-cost过去式和过去分词都是cost)
That English magazine cost me ten yuan .

I spent $10 on the cd.
I paid $10 for the cd.
意思是一样的,但是有时语气不太一样
比如头一句可以说成是"我在这张CD上花了10块钱.
第二句可以理解成"我为这个CD付了10块钱"
在不同的环境下，还是略有差别的.
有时就是习惯问题了.
比如当有人问你这个月的电话帐单交了没有的时候,一般都是回答
I have paid.没有人用spend的.
SPEND也可以指花费了多少时间,比如
I spent 10 hours on this assignment指我在这个作业上用了10个小时.
而COST用途更广泛点儿,比如做动词
This cd cost me $10.
也可以做名词
The cost of this cd are $10.

人+spend something/sometimes+(in)+doing sonething

人+spend something/sometimes+on something

人+pay something+for something

物+cost+somebody+something+to do something

spend,pay的主语是人，cost的主语是物。搭配不一样。
主语+SPEND+MONEY IN DOING STH/ON STH，
主语+PAY+MONEY+FOR STH
It cost sb +money +to do sth.
