The aluminium base shall be prepared in such a way as to ensure good adherence of the PTFE through the following methods:
• Sand-blasting for die-cast bowls or tanks, CG plates, boilers.
• Chemical pickling for pressed bowls or tanks
5.1 SAND-BLASTING
The sand-blasting shall be carried out with 60 mesh corundum balls (aluminium oxide).
5.2 CHEMICAL PICKLING
The pickling process shall take into account the type of aluminium alloy used.
5.2.1 Roughness
The roughness of the material (aluminium) after chemical pickling shall guarantee good adherence of the PTFE and allow it to be pressed: it shall therefore have a roughness Ra between 1.8 and 3.0 m inclusive.
The roughness profile shall also have a distribution of the No. peaks per cm according to the table:
