1:There are many minor differences, however. Chinese set off fireworks on Spring Festival; Americans wait until New Year's Eve. Chinese wear new clothes on Spring Festival; Americans get new clothes for Christmas and might wear them, but it's not a tradition. Chinese watch CCTV variety shows; Americans watch Christmas specials of their favorite sitcoms. Chinese hang couplets and fu characters over their doors; Americans put Christmas cards on their mantle and wreaths on their doors. Chinese give each other money in red bags; Americans give each other Christmas presents. Are any of these differences really substantial? No. Perhaps the biggest difference is that Christmas is a religious festival while Spring Festival is not.
