在丛句中这个结构就很清楚了，不是his而是him，因此不用whose而用whom

如果从语法的角度考虑，for是介词，介词后用whom构成介宾短语，而不能接代词whose

原因：in possession of 是“占有，拥有”的意思
第一句改成The house is in the possession of Tom.就对了

用whom
原因：因为意思是“对谁来说生活曾很富裕”，不用所有格whose
若用whose应说成

这句话要解释用哪个词不是靠语法，是靠意思！
简单得用介词后加宾格，解释不通，因为名词也可做宾格，这里whom是宾格，whose life也是，就无法判断选哪个。
