16:5 门徒渡到那边去，忘了带饼。
And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
16:6 耶稣对他们说，你们要谨慎，防备法利赛人和撒都该人的酵。
Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
16:7 门徒彼此议论说，这是因我们没有带饼吧。
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
16:8 耶稣看出来，就说，你们这小信的人，为什么因为没有饼彼此议论呢。
Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
16:9 你们还不明白吗，不记得那五个饼，分给五千人，又收拾了多少篮子的零碎吗。
Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
16:10 也不记得那七个饼，分给四千人，又收拾了多少筐子的零碎吗。
Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
16:11 我对你们说，要防备法利赛人和撒都该人的酵，这话不是指着饼说的。你们怎吗不明白呢。
How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
16:12 门徒这才晓得他说的，不是叫他们防备饼的酵，乃是防备法利赛人和撒都该人的教训。
Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

5、6 耶稣的门徒渡到湖的东边与耶稣会合，他们忘了带食物。所以当耶稣提醒他们要谨慎，防备法利赛人和撒都该人的酵时，他们还以为耶稣在说：「不可向这些犹太人求取粮食！」因为他们的脑里只想着食物，所以只能肤浅地按常理解释耶稣的话，学不到当中属灵的功课。
??一六7～10 虽然那曾喂饱五千人和四千的主与他们同在，但他们还是担心缺少粮食。因此，耶稣再次向他们提起这两个神迹。神要他们知道这个属神的算法和丰富的源头：给耶稣动工的东西分量愈少，得喂饱的人就愈多，并剩下更多的食物。虽然只有五饼二鱼，但他喂饱超过五千人；剩下十二篮食物。但当有更多的饼和鱼，他却只喂饱超过四千人，只剩下七筐食物。若我们把自己有限的交给神，让他来办，他就大大的加倍数量。「在神那里，微小的数目已经是很丰富的了。」
??这里的筐子（注33）有别于前面所述喂饱五千人的篮子。这七个筐子比前者所述的十二篮更大。这里要门徒学的功课是：我们既与那位拥有无限权力和资源的主相连，又何需忧虑肚腹之饥？
??一六11、12 主耶稣说防备法利赛人和撒都该人的酵，这不是指面酵，而是指邪恶的道理和行为。在路加福音十二章1节中，法利赛人的酵被形容为假冒为善。他们宣称在微不足道的事情上也抓紧神的话，然而他们的忠心顺服不过虚有其表，内心却是邪恶败坏。
??撒都该人的酵是指他们的理性主义。他们是那时代的理想自由主义者，就象今天鼓吹自由思想的人。他们建立了一套否定的论据，和提出许多信仰上的质疑。他们否定了天使和灵体的存在、肉身的复活、灵魂不朽坏和永远的审判。如果容让这不信的酵继续存在，它便会象酵母一样在面团中扩散，遍布每一角落。
